Pharmacy context

This community pharmacy is situated next to a medical centre. It is located in a residential area of Leyland, in Lancashire. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including seasonal flu, substance misuse supplies, and the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to some people to help them take their medicines at the right time.

This was a reinspection following an inspection in January 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 2.1 and 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Additional standards were included in this inspection to help effectively assess whether the pharmacy met the failed standards. The pharmacy had recruited new team members to fill vacant positions, including a new manager and a new pharmacist. The team had caught up on their workload, tidied the pharmacy, and were up to date with daily housekeeping tasks. The pharmacy had a high footfall from the nearby GP surgery, and the team were observed to be dealing with the queries effectively. The pharmacy was appropriately storing all of its medicines. And regular checks were being carried out of the medicines to ensure they remained in good condition.
