Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is situated in the rural village of Hightown, Merseyside. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including seasonal flu vaccinations, and the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies some people with medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to help them take their medicines at the right time. The pharmacy also has two online websites. One sells over-the-counter medicines and provides a prescribing service. The other is a prescribing platform used by registered prescribers to generate electronic prescriptions and is not accessible by members of the public.
This was a reinspection following an inspection in July 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 2.2 and 4.2. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy had created a set of risks assessments which cover the services and medicines that it supplies online. The risk assessments appear to identify and manage the associated risks for the services provided. All members of the team are appropriately trained or have been enrolled onto accredited training courses for their roles. The pharmacy also updated its weight loss service processes to obtain additional information so it can verify a person’s BMI. The pharmacy had stopped providing the Testosterone Replacement Therapy service until further work has been completed to enable the service to be provided remotely in a safe and effective way.
