Pharmacy context

This community pharmacy is situated in a residential area of Bootle, in Merseyside. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including seasonal flu and COVID vaccinations, medicines for people who use drugs, and the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies some people with medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to help them take their medicines at the right time.
This was a desktop reinspection following an inspection in January 2026 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1 and 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. A copy of the Standard Operating Procedures had been provided to the pharmacy, and members of the team had completed training to ensure they understand them. A copy of a risk log had also been provided to the pharmacy to help manage the services its provides in a safe manner. The pharmacy has updated and improved the storage arrangements for higher-risk medicines to ensure they are stored in line with requirements. Training was provided to members of the pharmacy team about how to store and monitor medicines which require refrigeration. There is evidence to demonstrate team members are undertaking regular monitoring of fridge temperatures in line with the pharmacy’s procedures.
