The pharmacy's controlled drug (CD) records are not adequately maintained and checks of CD registers found some inconsistencies. Running balances of CDs are not regularly audited so missing entries might not be identified promptly.

A full CD balance check has taken place, all discrepancies have been sorted. A full CD balance is carried out weekly. All pharmacists have been informed and in the locum handbook it has been made clear all CD invoices and prescriptions must be written up at the end of each working day.
