The Private Pharmacy Clinic (9012397) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy has considered some risks associated with its services. Its prescribing policy, although very limited, had considered inclusion and exclusion criteria when prescribing weight management medicines. However, its risk assessment had not identified or mitigated risks associated with patients not consenting to share relevant information about their treatment with their regular GP.

Docman has been installed to automatically notify the patient’s GP of weight‑loss prescriptions. Online consultation forms have been updated so patients must enter GP details and give consent before proceeding. A mandatory GP sharing rule prevents dispensing treatment if consent is not given.
1. Audit Trail for SOP & Risk Assessment Acknowledgment
• A secure prescriber portal on the new website will allow clinicians to sign digitally to confirm they have read and understood all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and prescribing policies.
• Digital acknowledgements will be stored centrally and can be accessed at any time for inspection.
2. Regular Auditing of Prescribing Services
• Regular internal audits (e.g. quarterly) will review sample consultations, assess clinical appropriateness, verify GP notification compliance, evaluate prescribing rationale, and check documentation quality.
• Findings from each audit will be recorded and used to update processes and training, ensuring continuous improvement.

The pharmacy's website has informaton about prescription-only medicines on its home page. The pharmacy needs to make sure it meets the requirements and guidance issued by the GPhC and other UK regulators such as the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) about advertising medicines.

A full transition to a new website is underway, which removes all POM content from publicly accessible pages, including the homepage. All POM information will be placed behind the secure consultation pathway. The new site is scheduled for launch on Wednesday 10 December 2025.

The pharmacy's website contains information about a membership scheme that it does not offer. And it displays information about pharmacists and doctors who do not provide the pharmacy's prescribing service but does not include information about the pharmacy's current prescribers. This means people using the service may not have all the information they need to make decisions about their care provider.

The webpage containing the membership scheme and outdated clinicians has been permanently removed. Current prescriber details will be added to the new website design to ensure only accurate and up‑to‑date information is displayed.
