| 4.3 | The pharmacy does not always store and manage its medicines appropriately. It does not have a robust process to check for expired medicines and it stores some of its medicines outside of the original packs without adequate labelling. This could make it difficult to identify recalled batches or expired medicines. |
The pharmacy follows its standard operating procedures for the safe storage and management of medicines. A weekly date-checking chart is in place and is completed by staff to ensure expired medicines are identified and removed in a timely manner. Where medicines are not stored in their original outer packaging, they are appropriately and clearly labelled. Labels include the medicine name, batch number, PL number, and expiry date, and these are generated using the pharmacy computer system. |

| 5.1 | The pharmacy does not have appropriate equipment for measuring liquid medicines or counting loose tablets and capsules. |
At the time of your visit, the glass measuring cylinder had unfortunately been accidentally broken by a member of staff. We were therefore using our plastic backup measuring equipment until the replacement order arrived. |
