Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.2

The pharmacy’s delivery service is not provided in accordance with the SOPs. And the pharmacy team cannot demonstrate it is provided safely and effectively.

Members of the pharmacy team do not always have enough information about medicines they are handing out. So they may not be able to make appropriate checks or give advice to people.

Since 29-1-2020, a delivery sheet has been implemented within the pharmacy.
The sheet also informs the driver if there are any items that have specific storage instructions I.e. refrigerated, CD’s.

High risk drugs are now identified using “pharmacist consultation required” labels and CDs expiry date are noted on the bag label
Any addition checks will be written on the bag labels

Multi-compartment compliance aids are left unsealed for prolonged periods of time during dispensing. This means the medicines may not be kept in good condition and there may be more risk of things going wrong.

Since 29-1-2020, compliance aids are checked on the same day, or if not possible the following working day after dispensing.
