Cottingley Pharmacy (1039415) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy does not have adequately robust processes for managing the storage of its medicines, including in the fridge. And for checking expiry dates. There is evidence of out-of-date and inappropriately stored medicines on the shelves.

• Fridge Temperature checks and logs completed each day. All staff retrained on daily checks and escalation process.

• Colleagues to complete full date check of the dispensary and shop floor and all OOD stock to be removed and disposed of.

• Any medication found not to be in its original container will be removed and disposed of and staff retrained on this procedure.

• Date checking matrix to be in place and adhered to by the colleagues.
