The pharmacy does not always ensure medicines are stored securely and are fit for purpose. The pharmacy’s secure storage for higher-risk medicines is at capacity and some medicines are not stored in line with requirements. The pharmacy does not routinely identify and clearly mark medicines that have an altered shelf-life once opened to ensure the medicine remains safe to use.

Purchase of second pharmacy CD cupboard for storing bagged CDs. Reduction in amount of CDs being stocked and ordering more as prescriptions arrive.

Staff trained and instructed to clearly mark any medicines with opening and expiry date.
