Why this is notable practice

The pharmacy is supporting the mental health of its team members by encouraging them to use ‘Headspace’ a mental health App.

How the pharmacy did this

The responsible pharmacist had encouraged all team members to download and use ‘Headspace’. Headspace is a science-backed App in mindfulness and meditation, which had been made free for all NHS staff to use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The App was the subject of clinically validated research. And was designed to provide staff with tools and resources to help reduce stress, build resilience, and aid better sleep.

What difference this made to patients

Pharmacy team members are able to focus on their mental wellbeing. This means they may be better equipped to deal with current workplace pressures. This in turn helps to ensure that the pharmacy’s services are provided effectively for people.
