COVID-19

Relevant standards

  • 1.1 - The risks associated with providing pharmacy services are identified and managed

Why this is notable practice

The pharmacy wants to provide assurance to the pharmacy team, and to ensure the safety of customers, by assessing its COVID-19 risk.

How the pharmacy did this

The pharmacy completed the PSNC risk assessment and also the risk assessment for keeping workers and customers safe during COVID-19 in shops, including pharmacies, on the GOV.UK website. On completing the assessment, they printed off the poster “Staying COVID-19 Secure in 2020” which explained the actions they had taken and displayed it in the public area to provide public reassurance. The pharmacy also had an assessment carried out by an external provider to confirm that their assessment was accurate.

What difference this made to patients

By carrying out the assessments and displaying the poster the pharmacy is able to show patients the actions they have taken. It can provide reassurance that the pharmacy is taking appropriate action in line with government advice. And provides reassurance that the pharmacy is a safe place to visit.
